Self-Care Through a Nervous System Lens: When We Understand Our Nervous System, Everything Changes
Early childhood educators give so much of themselves each day. They co-regulate children through big emotions, support families with compassion, make hundreds of decisions, and navigate the ever-changing demands of professional practice. Yet amidst caring for everyone else, many educators quietly carry the weight of stress, emotional fatigue and feeling constantly "on."
In this insightful and empowering presentation, Kelly Davis invites educators to explore their wellbeing through the lens of the nervous system. Drawing on her experience as a Nervous System Practitioner, Spinal Flow Practitioner and Reiki Practitioner, Kelly explains how our nervous system influences the way we think, respond, connect and care for ourselves and others.
Rather than focusing on quick fixes or traditional self-care, this session offers a deeper understanding of what happens within the body during times of stress and overwhelm. Educators will gain practical, compassionate strategies to recognise their own nervous system responses, support regulation, and create sustainable practices that nurture both personal wellbeing and professional resilience.
Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or simply wanting to better understand the connection between your body, mind and everyday experiences, this presentation offers an opportunity to pause, reflect and reconnect with yourself.
As part of the Connection at the Heart of Practice conference, Kelly's presentation reminds us that when we understand ourselves more deeply, we strengthen our capacity to connect, regulate, guide and reflect with intention—supporting not only our own wellbeing but also the children, families and colleagues we work alongside every day.
